Clinton Global Initiative University
A Nazareth professor and two students were part of a delegation attending the Clinton Global Initiative University conference in St. Louis at Washington University last April. Mary Kay Bradley, M.A., CCC-SLP, clinical assistant professor of speech-language pathology, along with Kaitlin Graham 鈥�13, 鈥�15G and Catherine Beers 鈥�14G, joined a group of national and international college and university student activists, heads of NGOs, celebrities, and topic experts to discuss and develop innovative solutions to pressing global challenges. Nearly 1,200 attendees addressed CGIU鈥檚 five focus areas: education, environment and climate change, peace and human rights, poverty alleviation, and public health.
鈥淚 left Washington University knowing that any change starts with awareness,鈥� says Beers. 鈥淭hat may take the form of researching the supply chain of companies that I make purchases from, to sharing information that I gather with friends, faculty, and other members of the Rochester community. At the most basic level I can talk about the issues; I can use my voice to make sure that other voices will be heard.鈥�
