Noyce STEM Teacher Scholarship

Want to teach biology, chemistry, or math to elementary or secondary students in a high-need school?

夜色视频鈥檚 Noyce STEM Teacher Scholarship provides tuition support, a six-week summer research experience (with stipend), mentorship, seminars, STEM teaching field experience, and more for students who want to teach science or math in a high-need school district.

Naz is one of four universities nationwide receiving this grant from the National Science Foundation and the Micron Foundation.

Who鈥檚 eligible

  • Naz biology, chemistry, and mathematics majors pursuing teaching (inclusive early childhood/childhood education or adolescence education) who鈥檝e completed at least 60 credit hours can seek a scholarship for junior year and senior year at Naz
  • Cumulative GPA: at least 3.0 (maintained to remain eligible)
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Commit to teaching in a high-need school district for two years for every year the award is received; must be completed within eight years after graduation.
What's a high-need school district?

A high-need school district is defined as having at least one school where at least 20% of children come from low-income families, serves at least 10,000 children from low-income families, or is eligible under the Small, Rural School Achievement Program or the Rural and Low-Income School Program definitions; and has a high percentage of secondary school teachers not teaching in the content area in which they were trained to teach, or a high teacher turnover rate, or a high percentage of teachers with emergency, provisional, or temporary certification or licensure.

What the program does

  • Supports talented college students with a passion for science and math to pursue successful teaching careers in these subject areas 鈥斅爐o, in turn, inspire children to pursue exciting careers in fields such as microelectronics, environmental science, robotics, forensic science, and biotechnology.
  • Responds to the critical need for K-12 STEM teachers by:
    • Providing annual undergraduate scholarships of up to $20,000 for junior and senior year
    • Providing seminars and courses to enhance your preparation as elementary, secondary biology, secondary chemistry, or secondary math teachers
    • Providing teaching field experience specific to STEM education
    • Providing research opportunities in STEM education
    • Covering the cost of initial licensing fees
  • Seeks to increase the number, quality, and effectiveness of elementary, secondary biology, secondary chemistry, and secondary mathematics teachers interested in teaching in high-needs school districts across the United States
